Jonathan's Blog

There have been three passages of scripture that I have taken very seriously over the years. These ones have caused me to put a lot of value on my personal prophetic words.

“Believe in the Lord your God, and you shall be established; believe His prophets, and you shall prosper.” - 2 Chronicles 20:20b

“This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you may wage the good warfare,” - 1 Timothy 1:18

“Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the eldership. Meditate on these things [JW-meditate on the prophecies!]; give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all.” - 1 Timothy 4:14-15

The reason I started Welton Academy was in response to a prophetic word from when I was 25 years old which told me that when I turned 30 years old, I would start a school, which would start a movement and that I was called to father that movement.

Now, three years later, the school has rapidly expanded beyond anything in my wildest dreams of what it might have looked like. The dizzying speed at which I have had to grow my staff and systems to manage this growth has been overwhelming, surprising and a lot of fun.

With over 2300 people that have participated in the last 3 years, we have received tons of feedback and input which has helped us improve constantly in this process.

Yet, one of the mistakes that I made along the way was trying to follow the model of other schools.  At the beginning of this year, I took time to fast and pray while reviewing prophetic words over my calling and over the school. What I began to see as a theme is that we are called to do something that literally no other school has ever attempted. We are called specifically to raise up Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors, and Teachers.

No school has attempted this, but some movements in the past have tried to focus on these five leadership gifts also known as the “Five-Fold” gifts.* Yet these movements, such as the Shepherding/Fathering/Discipleship movement of the 1970s and 1980s ended up being a complete nightmare and tragedy. The abuse of power and controlling behavior has left an entire generation nervous about the Five-fold, or assuming that they have “been there, done that.” This “been there, done that” attitude has thrown a wet-blanket on what the Holy Spirit has been trying to ignite in the last several years and if this attitude has been taken by you, I hope that you can shift your heart to receive what the Holy Spirit is saying. (*Other schools will train people to be prophetic, but do not commission "Prophets." There is a huge difference!)

The situation in the kingdom is as follows: we have true operating apostles that are nervous of even being called apostles because of what has happened in the recent past (yes, there are plenty of narcissists or unmentored individuals as well). We have five-fold leaders that are dying out or retiring, yet they have only equipped, without raising up new equippers, and their grace is not being passed to the next generation. The next generation has been equipped to be supernatural, but the next batch of equippers has not been raised up!

Here is what I believe. We need the entire Body of Christ to be equipped, and we also need equippers to be raised up, trained and launched to equip. That’s it, plain and simple.

If we can find a way to consistently build Kingdom-Advancing New-Covenant Equippers: then Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, the New Age Movement, Atheism, abortion, homosexuality, broken families, poverty, disease, war, sexual exploitation, gender inequality, and racism will be no more, and Jesus’ prayer, that it would be “on earth, as it is in heaven,” will be answered.

The Five-Fold Equippers produce nine results

“So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.” - Eph 4:11-16

The nine results in this passage are:

  1. Unity,
  2. Knowledge,
  3. Maturity,
  4. Full measure of Christ,
  5. Not infants,
  6. Not falling into false teaching,
  7. We will be a mature representation,
  8. Each part will do its work,
  9. The whole body built and connected in love.

If we had the Five-Fold fully functioning, we would have these 9 fruits as a result.

With every Christian and every congregation having these nine fruits, the knowledge of the glory of the Lord would cover the earth and the increase of His government would be greatly advanced.

If the Holy Spirit is speaking to you through this blog, then it is time to sign up for the fall semester of Welton Academy. This is not a product, you can’t buy the classes and watch them whenever you want; we are an actual online school. This means that you have a small window of time that you can sign up, between now and August 31st (late registration is available in September with a late fee).  New students can only begin in September, not in mid-year.

We are the best school for being equipped with the Kingdom Advancing New Covenant message, and now our third year is entirely focused on raising up Five-Fold equippers.

We encourage you to share this blog with your leadership, family, friends, weird neighbor, Facebook acquaintances, and haters.

Be blessed!
